We are humans and live in a dirty place which cause us to seek to clean ourselves and our clothes often. It is the same with our spiritual clothes, our armor. It does not stay clean if we use it the way we should. The world, Satan, and even our own lives cause dirt and filth to build up on our armor rendering them ineffective. We should have a spiritual laundry day everyday, possibly more often. At least for me, I know I get dirty and cause my armor to stop being effective quite often. The way I have to clean it is to ask God for forgiveness, and ask Him to show me how not to get dirty in that way again. It is not an easy task, and I fail more than I succeed. My failure is not God's fault, there is no fault in Him. It is my fault, for either not listening to His instruction, or willfully doing that thing again; as a result the spiritual laundry day becomes a ongoing cycle of wash, get dirty, become ineffective, wash again, and on and on and on.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— ~Ephesians 6:10-18The Drawing:
