Openings, Portals, and Doors

The prompt today was "psychedelic portal". Portals can be made of many things and can range from dull to psychedelic I imagine. Today, when thinking about what to draw I kept envisioning a certain thing...this drawing is not exactly that but, it will do :)

Of course the next thing to do is try and fit it in with this blog, which is both hard and easy. Does that make sense? We will see....

The bible talks about doors and openings but not really portals, although here is the Webster's portal definition,
"a doorway, gate, or other entrance, especially a large and elaborate one."
So, I can safely (in my mind) interchange the words.

The door I want to talk about is the door to our hearts. This door I believe is mentioned many time in the bible. First, in Genesis,
"If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Genesis 4:7
The door that God is speaking of here is the door to Cain's heart. He had not given an offering to the Lord that was pleasing, it was not his first fruits, his offering was given probably of what he had left over.  Now, don't misunderstand I don't think God rejected Cain, He was just not happy with the offering. Yet, in his human nature, Cain became angry and jealous of his brother and God was warning him to calm down or the sin knocking at the door of his heart would claim his life. Cain did not listen and as a result Abel died and Cain became an outcast. Prayer one, if you are hurt, jealous, bitter, sad, or depressed, God can help you through it. Don't allow sin to come through the door and keep you from abundant living, happiness, and joy.

The door to our heart can be opened to anything. God wants us to open it to him.
"Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.  All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.  I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.  The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:7-10
Jesus is letting us know He is the only way to abundant life. He is the door. All others are false and only want to lead you down the wrong paths. No one can be saved but, through Him.  I will say it over and over, you may get tired of reading it but if you believe Jesus came to earth, died on a cross, was buried in a tomb, rose again, and is returning to get His own, you can and have opened the door of your heart to Jesus and he is you protection from death. No, not physical death, we may all have to face that, but eternal death, separation from Him. Prayer two, is for those who need Jesus as your friend, your savior, your eternal life, believe He is the only way and except this gift.

Now, life is not magically going to get better. No we live in a fallen world with pits, and valleys that are very hard to trudge through. Jesus can make the way easier, He never said He would take away the pain here on earth. He will in Heaven though. He will give you His peace, His comforter, and His love here on earth. And believe me, if you need help and I can help you (even if all I can do is pray for you) I am here too!

There is one more door in the Bible I want to write about.
" Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Revelations 3:20
This door is also the door of a heart, and many people use this to talk about Jesus wanting to come into the unsaved person's heart. He does want to do that but Jesus in this verse is speaking to the church at Laodicea. They had become lukewarm they were just going through the motions, they had all the money and things they needed to survive so they were just "playing" church. They are Christians, they are bound for heaven, but they will not be receiving all that eternal life has to offer. They have left Jesus outside, knocking to get back in, to have His rightful place in their church. Jesus wants to be the center of the church and of the Christian's life.

My last prayer for this blog today is that Christians who have started to think they have got what it takes to make it on their own will realize, Jesus is knocking. He wants to be a part of all you do, and no matter how "with it" you think you are, your aren't...just saying.... sorry! Thanks for reading. God Bless you all!
