Wonder Woman

The prompt today in my drawing book was comic book cover. I looked at a few and decided to do Wonder Woman, not sure why and it didn't turn out very good. I will still share it though.

So in the bible there are many woman who stand out as "wonder women" in my eyes. God used these women in many different ways and for many different reasons.

Eve, even though she was tricked by the serpent and facilitated the fall of mankind, is a wonder woman because she is the mother of us all, really. A thought came back to my mind just now... why do we see so many differences in each other and use those to hate? We all come from the same place, we all have the blood of Adam and Eve. We are all family. I have to shake my head when I think of how far we have strayed from who God truly wants us to be. Then I remember Cain and Abel...

Moses' Mother and Miriam his sister are two more wonder women. The Pharaoh had decide the Jews were getting to strong and ordered all the boys under a certain age to be killed. Moses' mother saw he was someone God was going to use and so she hid him. Then found a way to safely see that he lived. His sister watched as Pharaoh's daughter found him, then offered to find a Jewish wet nurse to feed him, his mother.... And yes later in the story Miriam loses ground and complains a little too much which was enough to not allow her to go to the promised land. She was still a wonder woman.

Ruth is my favorite book in the Old Testament. The person who the book is about is definitely a wonder woman. She could have easily stayed behind in her homeland and not helped her mother-in-law Naomi. Yet, she loved her mother-in-law and her family, so she followed her to a strange land with strange customs. As a result she because David's Grandmother. What a wonderful thing.

Mary of course is also a wonder woman, not only because she is the mother of Jesus, but because she was faithful enough for God to use in that way. I know that many believe she was sinless, that I don't believe is true for this reason... Jesus had to be all man and all God. If Mary was sinless He could not have been all man, for only God is sinless. But that is just my belief, as always we have the right to interpret and read the Bible the way the spirit leads us, individually. Mary, I believe had other children, she went to listen to the teaching of her son and was there when He died. She and her other children, I believe put their faith in Him at some point during this time or shortly after His resurrection.  I believe as a human mother she did her best to raise her son.

Another wonder woman example is Priscilla. She was married to a man named Aquila. They were tent makers in Corinth, they gave Paul a job, traveled with him, and helped him in his ministry.  Priscilla was a good hard working woman and offered what she had to the furtherance of the gospel. She is an example in the New Testament that I would like to pattern my life after. I believe she personifies the woman spoke of in Proverbs 31.

There are so many more women in the Bible who are wonder women. I could never mention them all. It is my prayer that I could be a wonder woman for God, I can only pray and hope that God will find a way to use me for His honor and glory. That is my prayer for you also. Home is where the heart is.

Today, the prompt didn't lead to a blog post and technically I have been thinking about this all day. So here goes...

I was supposed to leave to go back to Louisiana; I am visiting my daughter in New Jersey. The plans changed when a snowstorm decided to come this way. Keeping me here another day. This morning before I knew I would not be able to leave I posted on Facebook the following:

"Today, I leave for Louisiana... can't say home cause home is where your heart is and mine is with my daughter..."

These words are true in this earthly realm. My heart is and will always be with my daughter.... well until grandkids come around... then it will be split between them all, I am sure.

In the spiritual realm my heart is in heaven, longing to be with my Savior. I can't wait for the day of no more pain, no more tears, and so much more. With that said I believe I have a lot more to do here on earth. I am not really ever going to be ready to leave here, never going to be, in my mind, good enough to be ready to meet my Savior. Still, He has my heart is waiting for me.

It is my prayer that you all have a heart that longs to see Jesus. That believes he is the Savior through His death and resurrection. Because, I truly wish for you all to be in heaven with me!

Reflection

Today the prompt for drawing is "your reflection" I do not like to have pictures taken and do not want to draw myself so I drew something a little different. Yesterday, while looking at Facebook, I found a picture of a kitten by a puddle, the reflection was a white tiger... I attempted to draw that today.

As I was drawing I was thinking of the verse below;

Proverbs 27:19  "As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man."

When looking in a mirror (or puddle) what do we see. Mostly, we see the outward appearance, the good, the bad, our physical body.  I have to say that the reflection we see in the mirror is not who we really are.  I think if we did see our real selves in a mirror we might run away in fear.

Our heart is where we really find ourselves. The part we try to hide from view.  The things we think about and do when no one else is watching. Yes, we do show it at times especially if it is good stuff, but no one is perfect and there in the heart of every person is some bad. Everyone who has ever lived on this Earth, except for one person, has sin and evil in their lives. Acknowledging that and dealing with the sin in our hearts is something that is hard to do. That is where a specific kind of reflection comes into play.

A couple of verses before the verse in Proverbs quoted above is the following;

Proverbs 27:17  "As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."

I think that we should find someone to be accountable to. Someone to share our hearts with and ask them to share theirs with us. Ideally, this should be someone you can trust completely and a little more mature in the Lord than you. The later does not always have to be the case though. You each should work together to sharpen each other, to exhort one another to get rid of the sin, so that the heart we have can be shared with the world instead of hidden away.

I try to use this blog as a way to express my heart. I have since the beginning a few years ago. Yes, I have shared some deep things at times. Things I deal with, I hope that all of you find a friend you can share with, someone you can truly trust. It is my prayer each of you have a heart that can reflect exactly who you are. So Many Hats!!!

The prompt today was "Dr Seuss Hat".... I wanted to be original and find Dr. Seuss wearing a "normal" hat... but I couldn't. I might not have searched hard enough though. Anyway this quest of drawing the hat made me think of the fact that we wear many hats. I know you know what I mean but I will attempt to discuss this from my point of view today. (the drawing is at the end)

I have the hats of a daughter, a sister, a mother, a mother-in-law, a teacher, a retired person, the list could go on.... I do not feel that I excel in any of those (don't yell at me I know, I know, stop being hard on yourself). Does God want us to wear so many hats? Are we supposed to retire some hats as time goes on or at least make sure that one of them is more predominate than the others.

Romans 12 speaks to the hats we wear as Christians.

Romans 12:3-8 "For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness."

 To me this is saying that we are given gifts, more than one, but God wants us to use the one that is needed in our local gathering. At times this may change depending on where we are or how the gathering changes. In my mind where I am at this moment determines the gift that I use. For example, I might be at a friend's house who has just received some bad news. I should in that instance be a comfort to them in some way, probably using a ministering gift. If I am a mom at home with my children, the needs of the children determine the gift that I use whether teaching, exhortation, or mercy.

I think God gives us our gifts to help build and grow His family. I think he gives us many hats to wear so that we can be ready to serve in season and out of season...

2 Timothy 4:2 "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching."

 So, I think, no matter where or what we are doing, we are to choose one of our hats (gifts) God has given use to be predominate at that time. We should always use what God has given us to help grow His family and lift up the fellow members in love and exhortation.

Happy New Year!

I am going to try this again, but I don't know how many days I will actually post. I thought I would post more last year but I didn't, a resolution to do something usually doesn't end well. We all have good intentions, right....

So here is the "plan, idea, thought..."

The pages are meant for drawing on, but I will draw in a different journal, or the one she made for me....

Today's prompt was "Angel's Wings". Ok, so this was not easy... I was going to draw the Seraphim in Isaiah 6. That was not a good idea, because I failed at the drawing. 

So, I just drew these wings, with no Angel...

And while I was draw a different verse kept repeating in my head... Also from Isaiah! 

Isaiah 40:31  But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.

There are so many ways this verse should be the first verse of this new year, since I am starting a new "chapter" in my life. Being retired and finding the way I should walk in the plan God has for my life is going to be a wonderful journey. I will try to wait on the Lord allowing Him to guide my life in this journey.  I know that if I am successful in that He will let me soar like and eagle, help me not to be weary, and not to faint along the way. 

It is my prayer that everyone reading this also can use this verse to help you journey through this New Year. Allow God to guide you! I also hope that some of you will draw along with me. I have several things I want to do with my art and I plan to share it here. If all goes as I think God is leading there may be a lot of other things for me to share. Today was our annual Mardi Gras parade at school. The pre-k, kindergarten, and headstart kids are pulled in wagons, walk, ride in trucks around our school. They get to throw beads, candy, and other things to the rest of the students. I get to play Cajun music as a "DJ" of the parade. It is usually a very wild time!
